(This post was last updated on: 10/19/2024.) On our recent trip to Oak Island, NC, I wanted to take a day to go thrifting in Wilmington, NC. On a rainy day, we made the 45 minute drive up to Wilmington to scope out the local thrift stores to see what treasures we could find. Here are the best thrift stores in Wilmington, NC, in no particular order.
The Best Thrift Stores in Wilmington NC:
Goodwill at 709 S. Kerr Avenue:
Our first stop was to an Asian Market to pick up supplies to make homemade ramen soup and sushi. Around the block was a Goodwill store. We popped in to take a look around. This store has mostly clothes but also offers home goods. I typically like to thrift items for my home so I skipped over the clothes. We left empty handed and decided to try out another local Wilmington thrifting spot.
Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 7330 Market Street:
If you have never been to a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, this is a must see. They offer a little bit of everything from home renovation supplies to decor to furniture. I found several awesome antique furniture pieces that I would have loved to buy, but it was not practical to transport them back home to Charlotte. This store had a bunch of Christmas decorations on sale. My advice for a Habitat store is to watch the prices. Sometimes they mark up their items a little higher than if you bought the item brand new at a big box store. I scored two crystal candle holders and my husband picked up a brand new shovel.
Primrose Cottage at 5226 College Road:
Our next stop was to Primrose Cottage and I had high hopes for this store from the photos I saw online. This store didn’t disappoint. They had lots of beautiful antiques, home decor items and tons of glassware and china. In the back of the store is the 50% off room where I picked up two gorgeous silver candle holders for just $10. After I clean them up a little, they will find a new home in my dining room.
Vintage Values at 5226 College Road:
Our last stop was to Vintage Values which is in the same strip mall as Primrose Cottage. This store was smaller but still had tons of beautiful items that we picked through. This store also had a bunch of customers so it must be a local favorite. A portion of the store’s proceeds go towards survivors of domestic violence and there are additional locations in Wilmington.
