(This post was last updated on: 2/3/2024.) Asheville is only a couple hours west of Charlotte. It’s a great place to go for a weekend getaway. The city is full of things to do especially if you love art and the outdoors. The area is full of cabins, camping sites and tons of shopping and hipster restaurants. During one of our trips to Asheville we stopped by The Botanical Gardens at Asheville. The gardens are open year round and are free to visit. They do ask for a donation to help in taking care of the gardens.

The gardens are vast and very impressive, laid out over approximately ten acres. The gardens focus on education and preservation of local vegetation. They offer classes for adults and kids. We really enjoyed touring the grounds for a couple hours and I would recommend stopping by the next time you are visiting Asheville. Here are a few pictures I took, I think they will show some of the beautiful aspects of the gardens. My favorite area was the bonsai exhibit.
