(This post was last updated: 2/3/2024.) I know I am late to the air fryer game, but I have one now and I love it! I got a Ninja Foodi pressure cooker/ air fryer as a gift for my birthday and it’s seriously awesome. I am still learning how to use all of the functions especially the air fryer. I have been watching YouTube videos and pinning recipes on Pinterest. My husband came up with a request for peppers stuffed with chorizo sausage so I came up with this simple recipe which I think is definitely an easy beginner’s recipe for the air fryer.
Beginner’s Recipe for the Air Fryer:
I picked some small green bell peppers from my garden, cut them in half, took out the seeds and washed them. Then I browned some chorizo sausage and filled each pepper about 3/4 of the way. I put the peppers in the air fryer basket and set the air fryer to 400 degrees and set the timer for 4 minutes.
What I love about the air fryer is that you can lift the lid to check the food at any time, an especially good feature when you don’t know how long to cook the food. That wasn’t long enough so I did another 4 minutes and after that the peppers were nice and soft.
While the air fryer was doing it’s thing, I shredded up some queso cheese. After 8 minutes of cook time, I topped each pepper with a bit of cheese and reset the timer for 2 minutes. From all of the videos I watched, everyone said to add cheese during the last few minutes of cooking time, otherwise it will burn. When the alarm rang, I checked the peppers again and they were perfection.
These mini peppers made a great side to the carnitas that I made in the crock pot for dinner. And my husband thought they tasted great!
