If you are anything like me, you can always use more hours in the day. I just always have so much I want to accomplish each day. But it’s not always going to be possible.

I have a few tricks and tips that I want to share with you that help to keep me on track so that I maximize my time and meet my goals. Here are 10 simple productivity tips that I think will help set you up for success.

10 Simple Productivity Tips:

1. Write Out a To-Do List

This is a must! Without having a list, you will not be able to prioritize the most important tasks and you run the risk of getting side tracked with other things that are not your priority for the day. Plus I just love to cross things off my to-do list, it makes me feel oh so good!

2. Tackle the Worst First

Yes, I know, this isn’t going to ease you into your day, but if you take the biggest, least desirable thing from your to-do list and tackle it first thing in the morning, you will feel such relief and will be able to get so much more done. After that thing is done that you were dreading, you will breeze through all of those smaller items on your list and not be stressed that you are running out of time to get it all done as the day goes on.

3. Say “No”

One of the best things you will ever do for yourself is to learn to say “No”. It can be hard at first, but the more you practice, the easier it will get. The more you say no, the more time you will have for things in your life that you really value.

4. Establish a Good Bedtime Routine

Having a good bedtime routine will set you up for success in the morning. This includes having everything ready that you need to take to work the next day packed and sitting by the door, having your breakfast and lunch packed, picking out clothes, etc. We have a great post for you to read- How to Jump Start Your Mornings.

5. Use Google Calendar

I can’t stress enough how much I love Google calendar. It’s so convenient to have your daily schedule at your finger tips at all times. Plus your family can access the calendar anytime and add their events.

6. Check Messages at Designated Times

It is just too easy to get into a time warp by constantly checking emails, texts, voicemails, etc. Set aside time in your day to check all of your messages. Maybe you check your inbox at the beginning and end of your day, or maybe just over lunch. What you don’t get done in that block of time will have to wait. So set a time, set a time limit and get at it.

7. Turn Off Notifications

Turn off all of your notifications, email, texts, social media, apps, all of it. It’s very common to get distracted by your phone beeping every time a new email arrives, or someone responds to your social media post. Again you will wind up in a time warp and hours later wonder what happened to your day.

8. Don’t Have a Meeting When an Email Would Suffice

Seriously, don’t schedule a meeting for something you could say in an email. It’s so annoying! You are wasting not only your time, but everyone else’s. Actually, look at your calendar, are there any meetings that just seem unnecessary? Cancel them!

9. Clean Your Home Daily

I know what you are probably thinking, Yuck! I don’t want to clean the house let alone do it everyday. But what I am suggesting is to break up your house chores into smaller tasks and complete one or two daily. This will save you from having to spend an entire day on the weekend to get your house cleaned up.

10. Make Your Bed

There is a reason that this productivity tip has been around for ages….because it works! I know it may see dumb, but if you just take the time every morning to make you bed, it not only gives you the feeling of accomplishment which will set you up to continue to make accomplishments throughout your day, but when you go to bed at night, it will save you time of having to make up your bed when you are tired and just want to lay down.

These are 10 simple productivity tips that are easy and proven. I hope you can begin to incorporate some into your daily routine. Leave me a comment below with your best productivity hacks, I would love to learn from you!
